Musk Xylol

The musk term added to xylol is a white to yellowish crystal with a very powerful musk scent. It is soluble in various oils and phthalates, but insoluble in water. Congeals at a temperature of 105°C.

Musk Xylol is used as a perfume fixative. It is also referred to as musk xylene.

2,4,6-trinitro-1,3-dimethyl-5-tert-butylbenzene.
