Does Xylene Damage Plastic? A Compatibility Guide
One of the most common questions about xylol (xylene) is whether it will ruin plastic, and the honest answer is that it depends on the plastic. Xylol is a strong aromatic solvent, and some plastics shrug it off while others soften, swell, craze, or dissolve outright. Knowing which is which saves ruined parts and leaking containers.

Test on a hidden spot, keep it off anything you cannot afford to cloud or soften, and treat these as general tendencies rather than guarantees, since additives and grade change how a given plastic behaves.
